About Chiropractic and Rehab

What is Chiropractic?

Do You Need A Chiropractor?

Bones misalign from different stresses in life, possibly starting with the trauma experienced at birth. This happens to 80% of babies at birth according to p(2) Gutmann, G.: Blocked Atlantal Nerve Syndrome In Infants and Small Children. English translation in International Review of Chiropractic 46(4):37, July 1990. Original German paper published in Manuelle Medizin 25:5, 1987. Other stresses such as car accidents, contact sports, and bad posture can cause bones to misalign, also. It is a common misconception that there has to be pain if something is out of place. Even though you may not feel it, the misaligned bone is still irritating nerves in your body. The only way to know for sure if you have a bone out of place is to be examined by a licensed chiropractor.

What Are Some Common Conditions Improved Through Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is most commonly known for improving conditions of the musculoskeletal system. These inculde conditions such as arthritis, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, headaches(migraine and tension), herniated discs, neck pain, jaw pain (TMJ syndrome), sciatica, sports injuries, whiplash, work injuries and other injuries and pains involving the muscles and joints of the body. There have also been documented cases of chiropractic helping with ADD/ADHD, allergies, asthma, bed-wetting, colic, the common cold, constipation, ear infections, infertility, menstrual irregularity, and other ailments of the body. Although the mechanism by which chiropractic care helps these conditions is not fully understood, it is believed that it has to do with the influence chiropractic has on the nervous system, which is the system that runs the body.

What Will You Experience at In Sight Health?

The doctor will perform an initial consultation where you and the doctor visit about your health. You will receive a very thorough chiropractic, neurological, orthopedic, and physical examination. If you need x-rays, those will be taken. These procedures are used to help answer the most common questions chiropractic patients have. What is wrong? Can chiropractic help? How long will it take? How much will it cost? An individual plan of care will be made to help you reach your health care goals.

We offer many different styles of adjusting including hands on, instrument assisted, drop table, flexion-distraction, and extremity adjusting. In Sight Health uses the latest in rehabilitaion technology to help you get better, faster and stay that way. Our rehabilitation department includes an area for therapeutic exercises to stretch muscles that are too tight and strengthen muscles that are too weak. We also offer a wide range of ancillary machines to assist in your progress. These include a decompression unit great for herniated discs, ultrasound to relax muscles and speed healing, muscle stimulation to relax muscles and create endorphins (a chemical naturally produced in the body to block pain), high volt galvanic, and diathermy. If you are unsure if chiropractic can help you, schedule an appointment or stop in for a free consultation.

Are you currently taking nutritional supplements or want to be, but you do not know what to take? Dr. Shaun has his certificate in nutritional counseling and can help. Finding the right supplements can be a real challenge for the layperson. Which supplements do I need? Do any of them interact? How much should I take? Are my supplements good quality? Different people need different supplements and not all supplements are created equal. There is a huge range in quality depending on where you buy them. Dr. Shaun utilized the latest in nutrition research to assess your particular needs and make recommendations based on those needs. He uses only GMP certified companies for the supplements he recommends to assure quality and safety. Costs of particular supplements vary. Why not let a trained health profession guide you through your needs properly instead of relying on a salesperson at the nutrition store to tell you what you need, or worse yet, trying to figure it all out on your own?
